During the early 1960s my family lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, and my mother made the acquaintance of Thelma Benbow, a businesswoman who had literally created a life she loved.

During the early 1960s my family lived in Greensboro, North Carolina, and my mother made the acquaintance of Thelma Benbow, a businesswoman who had literally created a life she loved.  Mrs. Benbow founded Benbow Reproductions in 1945.  Originally called Friendly Furniture located on Friendly Road, about a mile outside the city limits, I spent many days playing in the showroom while my mother and Mrs. Benbow worked on furniture selections and design.  Out of a talent for refinishing furniture grew a business that is being run by a third generation today.
